Why ?

Why Must have fireworks at countdown night? One hand trying to save environment in the day but the other hand trying to destroy the ozone in the night?
People like to see colorful fireworks which only last for few minutes, and not piles of white rice for poor which last for years?
Don’t we donate this huge sum of money spent on fireworks to the charity?

Why Do we need to treat this day as a special day? Don’t we suppose to treat everyday as special day?
Do we only think of resolution during this time and not other times?

Why Do we always perform housekeeping only at this period of time?
Only donate to charity organizations things that we don’t want and not things that people need?
During this season then we think of Salvation Army? Or do we treat them as Garbage Trash Center?

Why are there so many countdown parties?
The only way to celebrate new year is to go to countdown party?
Or are we just feeling lonely?

More or Less

Today, we have . . .
bigger, finer houses...but smaller, broken families
higher buildings...but shorter temperaments
wider highways...but narrow point of view
more knowledge...but less judgment
more medicines...but less health
higher income...but less morals
spent more...but enjoyed less

Picture Perfect - Festive

Festive = merry, happy, joyful…

I have spent more than 6 hours the whole of Friday morning making this “card” for my friend.

People may laugh, What? More than 6 hours to make a card? You must be crazy….

Well, that’s me…why not?  This is my first time hand-making (with my clumsy big hands) a card for someone who I wish to share the joy and blessing with, in this festive season.

Starting from designing the card (more of impromptu, keep changing as and when I am doing it);  staring and picking the letters from a pile of mini alphabets macaroni, to form the words; gluing them onto the coloured ice-cream sticks; punching those tiny Xmas trees and stars, gluing them to form the big Xmas tree..etc., all these, for someone who is skillful in art and craft, that should not be a problem at all, but not me…

At end it turned out not as good as I was expecting, but...anyway I managed to complete it by 3.30 pm and quickly rushed downtown to hand-deliver it to my friend, else next few days I would not be around.  I did not dare to ask my friend to open it on the spot as too embarrassing...

Picture Perfect - Into The Night

Into The Night

I took these pictures just few hours ago at the Riverside Point, located  along Singapore River bank.

Everyone has been very busy in the office everyday.  Though we see each other everyday, however, we do not really have the time to sit down talk to each other.

It has been quite a long time to have such a big group of us (almost 20) gathering together for dinner.

One of our colleague is migrating to Australia, thus we are hosting a farewell dinner party for him at one of the Mexican restaurant located along this beautiful Riverside.

There are three revitalized quays in Singapore - Clarke Quay, Boat Quay and Robertson Quay - where in the olden days, sweating laborers once loaded and unloaded goods from the riverside warehouses.  These days they have turned into buzzing nightspots, with endless many restaurants, bars, and clubs lining the newly clean river, and the traditional belching bum boats now ferry tourists rather than sacks of rice.
