Marriage

 

Marriage is not a word, but a sentence (life sentence).

Marriage is very much like a violin, after the sweet music is over, the strings are attached.

Marriage is love, love is blind. Therefore marriage is an institution for the blind. Marriage is an institution in which a man loses his Bachelor's and the woman gets her Masters.

Marriage life is full of excitement and frustration. In the first year, the man speaks and the woman listens. In the second year, the woman speaks and the man listens. And in the third year, they both speak and the neighbors listen.

It is true that love is blind but marriage is an eye-opener.

Getting married is very much like going to the restaurant with friends. You ordered what you want, and when you see what the other fellow has, you wished you had ordered that.

A happy marriage is a matter of giving and taking, the husband gives and the wife takes.

Love is one long sweet dream, and marriage is the alarm clock.

When a newly married man looks happy, we know why. But when a ten year married man looks happy, we wonder why.

Before a man is married, he is incomplete. Then when he is married, he is finished.

Let Us Not Complain . . .

Observe around you and be thankful for all that you have in this transitory lifetime ...

We are fortunate, we have much more than what we need to be content.

Let's try not to feed this endless cycle of consumerism and immorality in which this "modern and advanced" society forgets and ignores the other two thirds of our brothers and sisters.

Some Survival Tactics

After reading my friend, Livy's blog regarding her recent encounters, I recall I ever read something about survival tactics some years ago, which may be worth to know and remember.
 

Here I wish to share the following with all my dearest friends whom I care about.  It never hurts to be careful in this crazy world we live in.

1.

Tip from Tae Kwon Do master

The elbow is the strongest point on your body. If you are close enough to use it, if you are holding your keys in your hand, use them too, aim for the soft spot like the eyes, face and throat, do it!

It could be your life at stake here !!!

2.

 

If a robber asks for your wallet and/or purse, DO NOT HAND IT TO HIM.ou....chances are that he is more interested in your wallet and/or purse than you and he will go for the wallet/purse.

RUN LIKE MAD IN THE OTHER DIRECTION AND SHOUT FOR HELP!

3.

If you are ever thrown into the trunk of a car

Kick out the back tail lights and stick out your arm or your leg through the hole and start waving like crazy!!!

The driver won't see you, but everybody else behind will. This has save many lives.

4.

 

Women have a tendency to get into their cars after shopping, eating, working and just sit doing their checkbook, or making a list and etc.

DON'T DO THIS! Some baddie could be watching you, and this is the perfect opportunity for him to get close and pull a gun to your side window near your head and tell you where to go. AS SOON AS YOU GET INTO YOUR CAR, LOCK THE DOORS AND LEAVE!!!

If your path is block while driving out, put on your safety belt, sound your horn all the way and ram your way out. Don’t give in too easily, always fight back. Baddies always look out for easy prey, they are just as frighten as you. Run them down if you have too, these people do not deserve to live anyway.

5.

A few notes about getting into your car in a parking lot, or parking garage:

a. Be aware: look around you, look into your car, at the passenger side floor and in the back seat.

b. If you are parked next to a big van, enter your car from the passenger door. Most serial killers attack their victims by pulling them into their vans while the women are attempting to get into their cars.

c. Look at the car parked on the driver's side of your vehicle, and the passenger side. If a male is sitting alone in the seat nearest your car, you may want to walk back into the mall, or work place, and get a guard/policeman to walk you back out.

It is always better to be SAFE than SORRY.

 

6.

ALWAYS take the elevator instead of the stairs.

Staircases are horrible places to be alone and the perfect crime spot.

7.

If the predator has a gun and you are not under his control, "ALWAYS RUN!" The chances of a shooter hitting a moving target is 4 in 100.

Even then it will not likely to be fatal. RUN LIKE HELL !!!

8.

As women, we are always trying to be sympathetic and emphathetic

DON'T !!! TRY NOT TO!!! It may get you raped, or killed.

Ted Bundy, the serial killer, was good-looking, well educated man, who ALWAYS played on the sympathies of unsuspecting women. He walked with a cane, or a limp, and often asked "for help" into his vehicle or! With his vehicle, which is when he abduct his next victim.

黄建为的 Summer Dream Concert 2008

还记得今年三月时，我曾经在 REVIEW 栏中介绍了我在2007年所收集的两张专辑 “Over The Way” 和 “夏树的期待” 吗？

今晚，这两张专辑的原唱创作歌手Europa Huang黄建为，来到了新加坡，在Esplanade 的Recital Studio，开了他第一个长达90分钟的小型演唱会“Summer Dream Concert”。
 

起初，听说黄建为要来新开这越250个座席的演唱会，我还有点担心票房成绩，虽然他在2007年得了台湾金曲奖的“最佳新人”奖，有了些小知名度，但毕竟他在新加坡，还算是一个新人，认识他的人而又像我一样那么喜欢听他的歌的人不多。但，看了今晚的演唱会，感到很惊喜，几乎可以说是座无虚席，而且观众的热情互动，也感觉到很欣慰。
 

这次演唱会，除了黄建为本身是主唱外，他也邀来了组合中的其他两位团员，芬达（KeyBoard手）和奥迪（BASS）一起演出。
 

在演唱会中，理所当然的，他唱了自己这两张CD中的一些歌曲如:
Over The Way
纯真  （哇噻！重新被带回校园民歌那段美好时代）
鹭鸶雨稻草人
Like a Friend
爱的 Shalala
蝴蝶   （之前听CD，还好，但听他现场演唱这首歌，就特别感动）

他也唱了收录在这九月即将发行的最新专辑里头的几首歌曲如：
青鸟  （延续了他一贯的曲风）
羽毛  （超超超好听！）
Come to me  （只记得WaWaWaWaWa）

除此之外，他也试唱其他歌手的歌曲如：
Bread 的 IF   （使我回忆起求学时期）
Guns N Roses 的 Knockin’ on Heaven's Door
张艾嘉 的 爱的代价 （使我感触很深）
陈绮贞 的 旅行的意义 （还可以）
凤飞飞 的 流水年华 （唱来别有一番风味）
老歌  -  今宵多真重

整个演唱会，我觉得可惜的是，他没有选唱我喜欢的歌曲“可风”，也没独奏一两段他专辑里的一些好听的演奏曲！

另一点可惜的是，我相信在场的观众没几个能像我一样，对黄建为的每一首歌曲（除了还未发行的歌曲），都那么的熟悉，都会一字不漏的唱。我又找不到一个也喜欢黄建为的歌的知音朋友一起同行看演唱会，分享喜悦，所以只好独自一个像白痴一样的在那儿默默地跟着黄建为一起哼唱了。

 

但无论如何，这次新加坡的Summer Dream演出，黄建为是交出了一个漂亮的成绩单！

黄建为会在他11月去当兵之前，越十月中旬，在台北举行一个盛大的演唱会。

加油！Europa !

 

后絮：

演唱会过后，带他们去吃宵夜。其实他们三位蛮好玩的，尤其是芬达就特爱搞笑。一时兴起，就二话不说从车上拿出那把吉他来，在大庭广众，大家就开始一起唱歌，无论是英语歌曲，闽南语歌曲，现代流行歌曲，还是怀旧歌曲，什么歌会唱的都试唱一唱，芬达就帮大家即兴伴奏。其实他的声音蛮powerful的，尤其是他独个儿唱齐秦的“夜夜夜夜”，赞！黄建为唱的“零时十分”，“我愿意”，“望春风”，“酒后的心声”和“月亮代表我的心”等歌曲，真是一级棒！

Love is in the air and many wedding bells are ringing~. Rii's daughter, Becki in Jul, and Lil'angelwolf's brother, Alex, just few days ago.
Madeline, my special friend who I always care for, has also decided to pursue her happiness, and tied the knot with her beloved recently.
Feel so happy for her and all loved ones, thus somehow feel like posting some love quotes to fill the air.
