After reading my friend, Livy's blog regarding her recent encounters, I recall I ever read something about survival tactics some years ago, which may be worth to know and remember.
Here I wish to share the following with all my dearest friends whom I care about. It never hurts to be careful in this crazy world we live in.
1.
Tip from Tae Kwon Do master
The elbow is the strongest point on your body. If you are close enough to use it, if you are holding your keys in your hand, use them too, aim for the soft spot like the eyes, face and throat, do it!
It could be your life at stake here !!!
2.
2.
If a robber asks for your wallet and/or purse, DO NOT HAND IT TO HIM.ou....chances are that he is more interested in your wallet and/or purse than you and he will go for the wallet/purse.
RUN LIKE MAD IN THE OTHER DIRECTION AND SHOUT FOR HELP!
3.
If you are ever thrown into the trunk of a car
Kick out the back tail lights and stick out your arm or your leg through the hole and start waving like crazy!!!
4.
DON'T DO THIS! Some baddie could be watching you, and this is the perfect opportunity for him to get close and pull a gun to your side window near your head and tell you where to go. AS SOON AS YOU GET INTO YOUR CAR, LOCK THE DOORS AND LEAVE!!!
5.
A few notes about getting into your car in a parking lot, or parking garage:
a. Be aware: look around you, look into your car, at the passenger side floor and in the back seat.
b. If you are parked next to a big van, enter your car from the passenger door. Most serial killers attack their victims by pulling them into their vans while the women are attempting to get into their cars.
c. Look at the car parked on the driver's side of your vehicle, and the passenger side. If a male is sitting alone in the seat nearest your car, you may want to walk back into the mall, or work place, and get a guard/policeman to walk you back out.
ALWAYS take the elevator instead of the stairs.
Staircases are horrible places to be alone and the perfect crime spot.
7.
If the predator has a gun and you are not under his control, "ALWAYS RUN!" The chances of a shooter hitting a moving target is 4 in 100.
Even then it will not likely to be fatal. RUN LIKE HELL !!!
8.
As women, we are always trying to be sympathetic and emphathetic
DON'T !!! TRY NOT TO!!! It may get you raped, or killed.
Ted Bundy, the serial killer, was good-looking, well educated man, who ALWAYS played on the sympathies of unsuspecting women. He walked with a cane, or a limp, and often asked "for help" into his vehicle or! With his vehicle, which is when he abduct his next victim.
Great!
ReplyDeleteI knew the one about elbows and keys. I may have read the car-related ones, but since I don't drive, they are irrelevant to me personally. The trunk one is good, though.
I disagree with the elevator advice. It's a trap.
I'll add a few: 1) Scream like a maniac. It releases your adrenalin, someone may hear you, and with a bit of luck it scares the attacker.
2) A high heel into his instep gives you time to run - lots of time if you're effective. Good if you're grabbed from behind.
3) If you have to kick, kick at knees - and don't if you're wearing sandals. Every other part of his body can move much faster than your entire leg. NEVER kick at a hand that holds a weapon; it only works in movies.
4) Carry your defense through. If you manage to make him fall, jump on his chest or back and make sure you break his ribs. Or kick him in the head (still not good with sandals).
5) If he drops his weapon, snatch it and throw it to hell. don't try to threaten him with it; he can tell if you aren't ready to use it, so unless you are ---.
Comes from a book called Feminist Self-defense or something like that - I'm afraid it's Danish.
Oh - and if you have to escape from someone inside a building, don't run upward. Up stops sooner or later. Get down and out.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the tips.
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing, I made lot's of mental notes here.
ReplyDeleteHei Dreamz
ReplyDeleteThanks a million for these nifty tips!
Thanks ulla for the additional points to take note :)
ReplyDeleteI also agree with you. Staircase and elevator are equally bad and risky so long as you are alone late in the night in the building or carpark.
u r welcome, esti.
ReplyDeleteJust hope that we are not in a panic state till we forget all of tips when things really happen. Anyway, in the first place, we should hope that nothing happens :)
u r welcome, julie.
ReplyDeleteNot equally. You can at least run on the stairs - you may even be able to push the attacker down them. Once you're in an elevator with him, there's no escape. That you're alone in it from the start isn't enough; you're unable to prevent him from stopping the elevator and get on.
